Last week Alora turned two and I’m pretty sure I was more excited than she was. I know, I know she’s only turning two and she won’t really remember a thing, but growing up my mom always made my birthday special for me so it’s only right that I do the same for Alora.
I knew that I wanted her 2nd birthday to be so much fun because I’m finally back home and around my family and they missed out on everything for her first year. Then COVID happened and I didn’t think we would get to celebrate! I know that COVID is still very much real, but I knew that I wanted to have her a party and as long as we followed all the safety guidelines we’d be fine! I honestly started planning for her party back in April and from then until August I’m pretty sure I changed the theme about three times. The first step for me is always to look at Pinterest to get ideas! I have so many boards for literally everything and anything I liked even if it was only a little bit I added to the birthday board. From there I begin to narrow things down. I’m a very indecisive person so I have to allot time to make decisions even if it’s something super basic like what color balloons I want lol! Planning for a two-year-old is kind of difficult. Yes, I know what she likes but she can’t actually tell me what she wants for her day! I finally decided on a theme, Minnie Mouse! I went to Etsy to purchase her invites! Etsy just makes it super simple and every shop owner that I’ve ordered from for the past two years has been super nice! I actually ordered an array of things from Etsy such as Alora’s Minnie Mouse Shorts, our Minnie Ears, and her table signs! I ordered the rest of her decorations from Amazon and Party City!
For her actual birthday, I decorated the house in Baby Shark. I got balloons and a banner from Party City, I even got a balloon that sings “Baby Shark” every time you hit it which she loved! I also made sure that she had gifts because I wanted her to have things to open on her day! We went to lunch and then we went to Build-A-Bear Workshop and honestly we just had the best day!
I had her party the Saturday after her birthday! I definitely wanted us to match so I ordered custom Mommy and Mini tees from Glitz N Glitter Custom Prints! I rented a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse themed bouncer, from Afford-A-Bounce in Desoto, Texas, that catered to her age group. It had a mini slide and a little circle area that I added mini plastic balls, also purchased from Amazon, for the kids to play with.

I ordered balloons from Ahhmazing Balloons in Dallas, Texas! We had a balloon arch and Minnie Mouse Ears! Kimberly did such a great job and I didn’t have to worry about breaking down any of it after!
Her cake and cookies were Minnie Mouse Clubhouse themed! I ordered her cake from my Party Cakes by Shevon, who just so happens to be my Step-Mom...lucky me!! I literally showed her what I want and she gave me exactly that! Our cookies were made by Ms. Tonya Lemons who is located in Lancaster, Texas. I literally just explained what I want and she delivered! Minnie Mouse even had a mask on and that was probably my favorite design!
Every single vendor I dealt with was super professional and had everything done when I needed it! I will definitely be using them every year from here on out!
My Grandma hosted all of this in her backyard which I am so grateful for! We had fruit, baked beans, grilled chicken, and hot dogs but not of that mattered because I couldn’t even get Alora to eat lol! I was completely stressed the day I’d because of course my plans got altered and I was running behind, but seeing Alora’s reaction to everything was the icing on the cake! I couldn’t get her to sit still for anything and I know she had so much fun!
Party planning takes so much out of you and I am thankful for my family and friends who helped me in any way I allowed them too because let’s face it I’m a bit of a control freak and I like what I like. Mamas if you feel like throwing a huge party for your little ones then do it and don’t let anyone discourage you. They are your children and you carried and birth them so you deserve to do what you want. I keep saying next year we’re going to take a trip instead of having a party, but I’m sure I’ll change my mind between now and then!
